For some reason suicide seems to keep rearing it’s ugly head. Sadly, a girl at my school committed suicide over the weekend and it shocked me. I never thought that something like this could strike so near. As someone once told me, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Whatever it may be—school, boys, girls, family, money—it’s not worth it. Life is TOO precious, we’ve got to let our light shine y’all. With young lights being snuffed out by domestic violence, drunk drivers, drugs & alcohol—you name it, we do not need to be our own extinguishers.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.  ~Marianne Williamson (as made popular by Gandhi)
