Camp Us music: Howard

One of my favorite things about having friends at different collegiate campuses the world over is that I’m able to listen unique artists. The best artists are the ones we don’t know to listen to yet. The effect  of finding these artists is usually too

$urreal.

I was hipped to the movement by the one called Kira, @TakiraDeLaLuz . She said it something like this

. . . look everybody who I hang with are Gs. In college, no sarcasm, we’re just well off. They call us the Well Off G’s. And $urreal, they represent for the movement.

I started off quite skeptical. But now I blast it through my sub all thru ATL, waving a W to anyone else I find hip in the city.

Hawaiian Punch is their new release. It’s an effortless blend of east coast, southern, and west coast hip hop. The four man crew give sweet odes to their origins with 90’s r&b samples and early 2000’s go go bounces.

It’s like going to the Go Go Saturday, after listening to mommy’s cleaning music in the morning and your uncles old Chronic LP at the cookout that afternoon. This is the kind of music to cool out with. It’s $urreal.

Step into the Light.
